Niloufar Taghizadeh
Niloufar Taghizadeh was born in Iran and began working in the film industry at an early age. In 1996, she traveled to Germany to study film directing at the Athanor Academy. In the course of her career, she has worked on many international projects as a writer, director and producer.
Further film projects were created in collaboration with Arte and ZDF. In 2019, she founded her production company “Windcatcher-Productions” with which she has brought together a young team and deals intensively with serious stories and biographies on film. The topic of human rights, especially women's and children's rights, is very prevalent in her films. She tries to address oppression in every form, be it art and culture or social conditions, using personal stories to bring their reality to the general public.
In 2024, Niloufar Taghizadeh is bringing two documentary feature films to cinemas and international festivals. “Nila's Dream in the Garden of Eden” and ‘Googoosh - Made of Fire’ differ in their story and aesthetics, but not in their basic need to condemn oppression and reappraise Iran's history. With her films, she contributes to reflecting on the social conditions in Iran and the whole world and to adopting other perspectives.
